Bachelor of Animal Husbandry Study Program Implements Field Practicum for Artificial Insemination Course

The Bachelor of Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University has carried out a Field Practicum for the Artificial Insemination Course at the Baturiti Artificial Insemination Center (BIB) on Monday (16/10/2023). This activity was attended by students from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Unud VII semester Animal Husbandry Study Program and accompanied by course lecturers from the Lab. Livestock Reproduction (Dr. Ir. Ni Luh Gde Sumardani, S.Pt., M.Si; I Wayan Suberata, S.Si., M.Si; and Dinda Hanindia Kusuma Widjaja, S.Pt., MP).

This practicum was carried out in stages over 3 weeks in small groups (15-20 students) according to the schedule agreed upon by the head of BIB Baturiti, drh. Jose O.A Sarmento, as well as with the implementation of applicable biosecurity. Field practicum activities at the Artificial Insemination Center (BIB) Baturiti as part of the learning process for the Artificial Insemination course, and provide an overview to students regarding the processing of frozen Bali cattle semen and the processing of liquid pig semen, including the management of breeding cattle and pigs. Field practicum activities at the Artificial Insemination Center (BIB) Baturiti are expected to increase students' insight and knowledge in the management of livestock breeding, both cattle and pigs, including the processing of frozen Bali cattle semen and the processing of liquid pig semen in the Artificial Insemination (AI) series in the field. It is also hoped that this field practicum will open students' interest after completing their studies at college so that they can enter society as inseminators.
